About Paphos

Cyprus town of Paphos was inscribed as a  UNESCO World Heritage site in 1980. The village of Kouklia, is well known for it's ancient temple of Aphrodite, with artifacts dating back to the 12th century B.C.

Paphos has been inhabited since the Neolithic period ands was the center for the cult of Aphrodite and pre-Hellenistic fertility deity. If you read ""The DaVinci Code" you'll know that was one of the original religions of the world.

The Mosaics at Nea Pafos or now called Kato Paphos, are very beautiful and rare, dating back to the Hellenistic and Byzantine periods. Not to be missed.

It is rumored that secret tunnels were dug from Palea Paphos (Kouklia) to the harbour area.  It is fabled that in one of these tunnels, there is  Aphrodite's chariot of gold.  Well, we're still waiting to find that one!
